About Us

Barany Company was founded by Kheder Barany in 1963 as a small Tahina factory in the house of Kheder Barany in Bashiqa. Then shifted to produce Halava and sweets in 1979, and made it through the Iranian Iraqi war till 1991.

The halava factory stopped after the sanction on Iraq due to government policy on the use of sugar for any non-human consumption. In 1992 second generation brought back the tahini factory and start production.

In 1995, the company opened a bureau in Mosul and started doing trade in Tahina and dates syrup (Dibs). In 2006, the company had to shut down the operation in Mosul because of the bad security and moved Again to Bashiqa, and built big stores to form what is known as Barany Company today.

The worked on importing and selling Natural, hulled sesame seeds, plastic and glass bottles, and all the equipment a Tahina factory would need. In 2014, after ISIS attack the area and stole all our stores, the Company opened a store in Erbil in the same Year and then another store and office in Dohuk.

In 2015, the company opened office and branch in Mersin Turkey called “Almuttahida gıda”. In 2017 the third generation joins to keep doing what we do best. In 2017, we opened a plastic factory to produce PET plastic botels
